AOS Announce Newest Inductees to Art of Step/Stroll Hall of Fame

New York, NY…July 24, 2013 – Challenging young people to pursue their dreams, Art of Stepping, announces the third and final inductee newest into the Art of Stepping Hall of Fame: Andres Marrero, member of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc.

Andres will be joining follow inductees, Dr. Andrea Duhon, member of Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. and Jannira Roman, member of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada whom will both be inducted at the 4th Annual RISC National Step/Stroll Championship Weekend held on Saturday, July 27 at Columbia University in New York City.

This impressive honor, which will be presented by Founder of Art of Stepping, Jessica “Remo” Saul along with fellow AOS Hall of Famers Nicole Washington(Lambda Pi Chi) and J-RoMeo (Lambda Sigma Upsilon), recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a consistent pursuit of excellence for the art of stepping and/or strolling. The honor is bestowed upon legendary leaders who have demonstrated the ability to positively impact and raise the level of creativity of the art form by promoting, educating, and enhancing the Art of Stepping™ and strolling.

Excerpt from their biographies:

  • Dr. Andrea Duhon is a board member of the Art of Stepping Foundation, the Chris Duhon Stand Tall Foundation and the Global Network. She is the Founder and Director of the Triple Threat – Dance, Step and Cheer Camp, a camp that provides exposure to the early stages of the arts for underprivileged kids free of any cost in Orlando, Fl; Slidel, LA and Los Angeles, CA. She is a proud member of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad / Lambda Pi Chi Sorority Incorporated for which she was involved in stepping and strolling for many years. As a member of the National Step Team and National Stroll Team from 2005-2010 she served in several roles including: National Stroll Team Co-Captain (2005-2007), National Step and Stroll Team Captain (2007-2009). She was also a member of the AOS professional New York Chapter 2009-2011. During her stepping career Andrea was part of the Latinosstep National Step Team Champions (2006), Tres Reglas – 1st Place (2006), Alpha Phi Alpha Gold Rush Step Show – 1st Place (2007), University of Delaware NPHC Step Show – 1st Place(2008), She was also featured with her national step team in the MTV movie How She Moves. As a stroller Andrea was part of the Silk 6 National Stroll Champions. Andrea earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University, Master degrees in Mathematics Education and Philosophy from New York University and Columbia University respectively and a PhD in Mathematics Education from Columbia University. Now in 2013, Andrea Duhon will be inducted into the Art of Stepping Hall of Fame for her dedication to stepping/strolling.


  • Jannira Roman (H. Anacaona) was born in Long Island New York, with native Puerto Rican parents, is a natural leader, dancer, Hermana, and is the National Stroll Mistress of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada. She pledged spring 2003 at Long Island University at C.W. Post campus (Xi Chapter). She currently resides in Texas and works for the U.S. Army as a clinical social worker, pursuing a PHD in clinical social work at the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago, Illinois. Dancing since she was 12 years old, she has had the honor of performing with various Latino artists such as, Johnny Pacheca, Fulanito, and even performed for Miss Universe Amelia Vega. While residing in Aguada, Puerto Rico Jannira trained for three years with Salsa champion Santos Gonzales from the “Academia de Julie Mayoral”. She joined Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada’s National Stroll Team in 2006 and became Stroll Mistress in 2010. Her involvement in the Greek world also involved being on the RISC Step and Stroll coalition and helped pioneer the Unity Stroll Team.


  • Andres Marrero known as “DRE” pledged and crossed Lambda Chapter, of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. during his sophomore year at the tender age of 17 in the Fall of 1999. He became part of NST from years of 00’ to 02’. In 06’ was driven by a need to see LUL back on the map as a force to be reckoned within the stroll game. He was determined to bring a new style of strolling combining the usual complexity and precision with a dramatic mix of culture and theatrics in the high energy and highly intense movement and stunts. His vision was to bring a New Age to the stroll game. Thus by summer 2007, 8 hand picked members became the first edition of the New Age Stroll Team, more known as, NAS-T. For more than 6 years, NAS-T has performed and won through many states; despite the wins and losses, NAS-T has more been known to put on the most memorable performances. In 2009, he became step master of NST and won 2nd Place in RISC. Additionally, Andres and was of the founding representative of the Step/Stroll Coalition for which focuses on producing RISC – National Step/Stroll Championship.
