3 Regional Step/Stroll Competition join forces to host
1 National Championship
Art of Stepping is excited to announce that in 2017 we have decided to merge all regional step and stroll markets across the country to host 1 national step and stroll championship which will be hosted at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia on April 29, 2017. The show will bring the best teams across the country to compete in one national competition highlighting stepping, strolling and dancing which is a reflection of the collegiate community artistically.
CHAOS TOUR: RISC SOUTH will NAME 2016 Champion
Over the past 9 years, AOS has been hosting the “CHAOS TOUR”. This event acts as a regional STEP and STROLL competition with the goal of providing a national platform for Latino & Multi-Cultural Greeks to showcase their skills on the art forms of stepping & strolling. During this time, AOS has had the pleasure of servicing more than 3,000 members within the artistic communities by teaming up and working with more than 13 organizations in 2 regional markets. In 2015, AOS expanded into its 3rd regional market with the establishment of RISC South.
The CHAOS TOUR (by AOS) operates and owns all “RISC” regional competitions and presently is the only event that partners with local/national Greek letter organizations to create the rules and regulations. The latter action was strategically implemented to secure that all organizations/partners have a voice and presence at each event. Moreover, building on and carrying out the Art of Stepping Foundation (AOSF) mission, AOS hosts an annual Youth Step Camp/Championship during the day of scheduled RISC events. This AOS Foundation event welcomes participants 6yrs – 18yrs old and is designed to teach and instruct participants the art of stepping through mathematical formulas. AOS’ combination of both the Arts & Math hopes to revolutionize the way the art is taught and learned.
Regrettably, in the past few years there has been limited, and in some cases, absent commitment from the national organizations affiliated with the events. As a result, this has led to the decision by AOS and its Foundation Board to postpone 2016 RISC Midwest and West.
AOS appreciates the efforts and participation of those who registered and planned this event. However, AOS and AOS Foundation are not in the fiscal position to host the event without the timely commitment from the organizations participating/hosting. AOS hopes you can understand its decision for 2016 and will look to 2017 and forward to develop an improved process.
